Meet the faculty and staff

Jennifer Tan, Pharm.D.
Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration
Saint Joseph College School of Pharmacy

Dr. Tan is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice. She completed a PGY1 Residency with a focus in Ambulatory Care at Shenandoah University. She put her training to use as a clinical pharmacist at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center before joining SJC. Throughout her experiences the one common thread that defines her as a pharmacist is her desire to make a difference in the lives of patients, by providing guidance and cultivating trusting relationships. Dr. Tan’s desire is to “instill in each student passion and pride for the profession.” Her teaching philosophy states that she “believes in teaching with enthusiasm and interest for each topic with hopes of making students more eager to take on responsibility and become an active part of the teaching process. Being available as a resource and supporting their success as a student pharmacist is equally as important as the lecture material.”

Dr. Tan has continually had an interest in the pharmacotherapy and pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders. Dr. Tan’s clinical practice site is at the outpatient psychiatric clinic associated with Saint Francis Hospital. She believes that “by better understanding how a particular disease state may affect a patient’s life allows us build compassion for the patients we serve.”
