92 Events presents works spanning six decades by Sweden-based, American-born Fluxus artist Ken Friedman.  Includes contributions from Alison Harbaugh and Ruben Dobbs, Austin Sposato, Bob Madden, David and Tara Gladden, Eric Leshinsky, Kymberly Taylor and Robert Haywood, Leslie Rose, Roderick Mincher, Samantha Young, Tom Levine, and Wilfredo Valladares Lara.

The Question: “Who am I to you?” To inaugurate our new media space, /m is presenting two films from the 1970s by the Cuban-American performance artist Ana Mendieta (1948–1985).

Videodrome

Welcome to the Videodrome

/m is pleased to announce the launch of VIDEODROME: a custom-built, micro-space for historic artist film and video. The inaugural program showcases, side-by-side, two films by the Cuban-American performance artist Ana Mendieta (1948–85).

The space, which will present both ongoing installations and occasional screenings, was conceived and is curated by Jenny Cawood, /m’s Manager of Artistic Inquiry. It was made possible through a Strategic Impact Grant from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County.

Summer Fortune

This summer brought new supporters and increased support to /m. We are humbled and grateful for the following: A  Chesapeake Crossroads/Maryland Heritage Areas Authority grant for “the Annapolis Liberty Tree Project” (Spring/Summer 2026), an Arts Council of Anne Arundel County Strategic Impact Grant for VIDEODROME, a micro-cinema we will launch in October 2025, and an Anne Arundel Council Office of Multicultural Affairs Community Grant for “Luncheon on the Grass,” picnic for local artists that we hosted in July. The museum’s longtime supporters Joy Chambers and Peter Bungay increased their support in June.

Marking a Milestone: /m Turns 50

The St. John’s College Art Gallery was born 50 years ago in a former science lab on the 2nd floor of Mellon Hall. Fourteen years later, we moved into our current facility. We are collecting memories: please send us a recollection of a favorite exhibition via email to mitchellartmuseum(at)sjc.edu.

A New Name, a New Identity

We entered 2023 with a new name: Elizabeth Myers Mitchell Art Museum. By replacing “gallery” with “museum” we celebrate of our longstanding accreditation (since 2012) by the American Alliance of Museums. Our new lettermark, /m, uses the language of subdomains to underscore the museum’s relationship to its host, St. John’s College.
