Interestingly, Associate Professor of Business Administration Eric Chen began his academic life as a Biology major. But finding himself in “the right place at the right time,” post graduation, he started a career on Wall Street and cultivated his expertise in the world of finance. In the years since, he’s never looked back: “I love the field of Business; it is in a constant state of flux — whether the government is attempting to shape economics using the interest rate or whether the price of oil is changing due to political events — business will ride the wave of change.”

His passion is evident in the classroom, where students are encouraged to try new things and never penalized for creative, out-of-the-box thinking. “The best things that I can give my students are skills that will enable them to make the following powerful and compelling proposition to an employer: ‘Hire me and promote me because I can do this job today – I have already been properly trained,’” Chen said.

Focused on current trends in the field, Chen sees himself as a student of life, a trait that embellishes his teaching. “As a teacher, “ he said, “I must be at the cutting edge of my field. I must always be a student if I am to be the best teacher that I can be.”
