SJC Continues Its Financial Support of Students
We know that there is a great deal of conversation and concern about the cuts to financial aid in theState budget – specifically theConnecticut Independent College Grant (CICS)program, which gives funding to Connecticut students attending private colleges.
Saint Joseph College is committed to supporting the financial needs of students – both incoming and returning. We are happy to report that students awarded a state grant on their Financial Aid Award Letter will receive the amount stated. Saint Joseph College will not reduce students’ state grants, but will ensure those grant dollars are provided with SJC grant funds. The total gift funding (grants and scholarships) that students were offered represents a commitment from the College. When students submit their FAFSA next year and if all items remain the same from the previous year’s financial information, SJC will ensure that the total gift aid remains.

The goal of the Saint Joseph College Financial Aid Program is to place a high quality private education within the reach of as many qualified students as possible. This goal is achieved by offering merit and need-based financial aid awards that include a combination of grants, loans and on-campus employment opportunities.

One unique aspect of investing in education is that it cannot be taken away from you. In addition, its value will increase and you will never have to replace it. It is yours for life. Therefore, the actual value of an education should not be measured simply in terms of the cost of tuition, but rather, it should be measured by the life skills you acquire that are necessary to succeed in today's and tomorrow's ever-changing, competitive job market.
Application Process
Initially, the only form Saint Joseph College requires is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
You can complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is available beginning on January 1st each year for the following academic year. Our federal school code for completing this form is 001409.
Students should submit the FAFSA by our priority deadlines in order to ensure maximum financial aid eligibility:
New Students - Fall Starts: February 15th
New Students - Spring Starts: November 15th
Returning Students: April 15th

Once the FAFSA is received, you may be required to complete additional forms and provide additional documentation if selected for verification. In order to accept your financial aid award and/or student loans, you may also be required to complete additional paperwork.
