From reunions and croquet to campus lectures and concerts to alumni gatherings in your area, there are Johnnie events in Annapolis, Santa Fe, and around the country.
For many years prior to the pandemic, alumni looked forward to gathering in person to renew ties with classmates and the college. As we look to 2022, we find ourselves in a unique situation this year. Due to the lingering impacts of COVID-19, labor shortages, and major ongoing campus construction and renovations, the college is unable to welcome back all of our alumni for our traditional on-campus events. Rather than moving on in the usual reunion rotation like some of our peer institutions, the college welcomes back to campus this fall alumni of the 10-, 25-, and 50-year reunion classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022, i.e., those who would be celebrating these milestones this year and those whose milestone reunions were delayed by the pandemic. These are the classes of 2010, 2011, and 2012; 1995, 1996, and 1997; and 1970, 1971, and 1972. Instead of a traditional homecoming, the celebration of these postponed and current milestone classes will become a dedicated Reunion Weekend on each campus.
In addition, new this year will be special programming to express our deep gratitude for our many alumni, families, and friends who give back to the college community as advocates, volunteers, and donors. Your support is transformational and essential. We’re calling this the ‘Day of Gratitude,’ and invited guests will gather, for the day or for the weekend, alongside our Reunion Weekend participants for this first-of-its-kind program, with special gatherings and recognition occasions, and, of course, seminars led by faculty and students on a range of texts and topics. Day of Gratitude guests will receive their invitations in late July.
St. John’s College offers an array of events to both the Annapolis and Santa Fe communities, ranging from world-class music concerts and art exhibitions to academic lectures and theater performances, many of which are free and open to the public. See our comprehensive calendar of events for more!
Alumni gather around the country and the world to continue the life of the mind begun in our halls via a variety of vibrant programming, including seminars, cultural outings, wine tastings, and other social events. Joining an existing gathering or finding your own group is made possible via SJC Connect, our in-house social connection platform that enables Johnnies to find their fellow Johnnies. See the Groups page on SJC Connect to locate existing gatherings, or use the Directory tool to find Johnnies near you (or your classmates for an online gathering!).
