All people develop aesthetic preferences, and so do some other animals. The book works out how and why this happens. Its argument begins with a few basics of biology and physics, expands evidence from experimental psychology, and shows how the mechansim works with every form of aesthetic preference across the world.  It is written for lay readers without jargon but takes deep dives into many disciplines.
