Class Chair Program

The Class Chair Program deepens the relationship between the college and its alumni by increasing engagement through a class liaison. This program is a signature effort in the Alumni Association’s collaboration with the college to bring alumni back to campus for Homecoming and to increase the awareness of the importance of giving. The nature of a class chair is as a communicator and liaison. The peer-to-peer communication provides a more meaningful and personalized form of outreach to alumni.

Time requirements are minimal. This is meant to be a simple and flexible program that you can design to suit your schedule and communication preferences.

Class chairs keep classmates connected to the college by informing them of current news at St. John’s and providing feedback to the college regarding classmates’ interests and concerns.

They also serve as reunion liaisons during reunion years and work closely with the Alumni Office to encourage classmates to attend Homecoming and to solicit ideas from classmates about seminar preferences.

Most tasks are quickly accomplished by class chairs. As a class chair, you are able to use whatever form of communication best suits you and your class. Some class chairs use Facebook or email, while others reach out through letters or phone calls.
