Presidential Search for the Annapolis Campus

Message from the Presidential Search Committee

February 2017

The search committee received well over 100 inquiries and, after careful deliberation, has narrowed its focus to 8 to 10 outstanding candidates. The work of the search committee is proceeding according to schedule; the nomination period for submitting candidates has closed.

November 2016

The search for a new president of St. John’s Annapolis to succeed Chris Nelson began early in the summer of 2016. The committee selected Isaacson, Miller—the same firm that conducted our successful search leading to the appointment of Mark Roosevelt as Santa Fe president—to develop a timetable and assist us in finding qualified candidates.

After consulting with college communities on both campuses, we prepared a job description and invited candidates to submit indications of interest. This process is now underway. The committee's initial screening of candidates will take place on November 30, 2016. Our goal is to have a final slate of candidates by the end of February 2017. (See timeline for presidential search.)

On behalf of the committee, I invite members of the college community to recommend candidates and tell us what you would like the Search Committee to consider as we evaluate candidates. We encourage you to send these as soon as possible, so that we can begin to focus our search.

My fellow committee members and I promise to work diligently to recruit an outstanding president for the Annapolis campus and the college as a whole. I want to especially thank the St. John's College Alumni Association for their partnership in this endeavor. We welcome community input and appreciate everyone's contributions to the work ahead.
