Study Groups

Students and faculty often come together to form extracurricular study groups on various topics of interest. Recent study group topics include Latin, German, and French conversation; James Joyce; Flannery O’Connor; Islamic texts; Fukuyama; and Plato’s Crito.

The campus president traditionally hosts a study group, which is open to the whole campus community of students, tutors, and staff.

Chinese Teahouse

The Teahouse meets regularly on Saturday afternoons in the Spector Common Room to read Sun Tzu or other Eastern authors and participate in formal tea drinking.

The Homerathon is a spring tradition. Students are invited out for a 24-hour dramatic reading of Homer’s Iliad or Odyssey (depending on the year) from start to finish. Reenactments are not required, but they commonly occur, particularly during some more exciting acts. The event is informal; students may come and leave at will.
