For Parents

At OPPD we believe that you, as a parent, can play a vital role in helping your student prepare for life after graduation. That starts with encouraging them to take advantage of the many resources and programs we offer on the Santa Fe campus.

St. John’s College is a small community, and we look forward to giving personalized support to your student. The earlier we meet them, the easier it is for us to look for opportunities aligned with their interests and aspirations.

We tell all students, “It’s never too early to make an appointment with OPPD!” We encourage you to do the same.

Here are eight things you can encourage your student to do:

  • Read the OPPD’s Weekly Bulletin, sent by email every Friday.
  • Check email daily for announcements and individual messages from OPPD.
  • Check the OPPD Microsoft Teams website every day for new opportunities.
  • Complete all seven TELOS workshops.
  • Attend any Career Conversations aligned with their interests.
  • Make the most of their summers with the Ariel and Pathways programs.
  • Make an appointment with OPPD in their freshman year so we can get to know them.

Finally, please don’t hesitate to contact OPPD or call 505-984-6066 to get in touch with us. We would love to hear from you.

St. John’s graduates are remarkable people, and we look forward to supporting your student’s transition from St. John’s College to a happy and fulfilling life after graduation.
