St. John’s College attracts a variety of primarily academic conference groups whose studies are connected to the colleges curriculum. For example, the college provides space for conferences that focus on such subjects as physics, mathematics, cosmology, English, and the arts.
The Great Hall, on the second floor of the Peterson Student Center, seats about 220 people lecture-style. This room is approximately 2,000 square feet and has a large balcony. Please see our virtual tour for photographs of this room.
The summer conference season begins in early June and runs through mid-August. Dorm and suite rooms, and apartments, are available to conference groups only during this time.
Generally, meeting rooms are rented out during the summer months as part of residential conferences. Due to a growing and very active student body, meeting-room space during the academic year is a little harder to come by, yet may be available. Please feel free to contact us with specific date inquiries.
Summer conference groups must pay the room and board fee for at least 20 people.
Yes! The colleges Student Activities Center has a weight room, racquetball courts, and a large gym. Nearby are tennis courts, a soccer field, and a small track. Passes to the SAC are sold in the Conference Services office for a minimal fee. Group rates may be available.
A’viands Food and Services manages the colleges dining hall and coffee shop and also offers full catering services. Conference groups can choose from a complete menu, including bar set-ups, and can create alternative menu options by request. Outside catering is not permitted on campus.
St. John’s College welcomes letters of request from non-profit organizations for reduced-rate meeting space on campus. Include the name of the organization, basic information about the organization, the date of the event, needs for the event (tables, chairs, a/v, catering, etc.), number of people attending, and the contact person in your letter, and send it to the director of Conference Services at St. John’s College, 1160 Camino Cruz Blanca, Santa Fe NM 87505, e-mail it to santafe.confserv(at)sjc.edu, or fax it to 505-984-6402. A small committee will review the request as soon as possible.
A letter of request is not necessary for summer conference groups that are utilizing dorm space. Virtually all of our summer residential conferences are non-profit organizations, therefore our summer conference rates already incorporate a non-profit discount.
