COVID-19 Information

ATTN: Due to the escalating situation related to COVID-19, the college has made the decision to commit to distance learning on both campuses for the rest of the semester. We know that this presents a great number of difficulties, and we apologize for any inconvenience, but our greatest responsibility is the health and safety of our community, and we feel that this is the most prudent decision at this time. Please check this page for more information and continuing updates.

While there are no known or suspected cases of COVID-19 at St. John’s College, the college continues to monitor this rapidly evolving public health issue and any potential risk to the Johnnie community on both campuses.

This webpage provides our community information about COVID-19, precautions that the College is taking, and prevention measures you can take. Please also see:

Please review the information listed carefully, as there is information included for both the Santa Fe, NM Campus and the Annapolis, MD Campus. Because COVID-19 is affecting geographic regions of the United States differently, the information is specific to each campus. We will update this page with the latest information and announcements.

This page is not intended to be all-encompassing and should not be considered to be providing medical or legal advice. In all instances, you should consult with a relevant expert for guidance specific to your circumstances.

Information for Institutions of Higher Education

On March 2, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control released Interim Guidance for Administrators of US Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) to Plan, Prepare, and Respond to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).  The college is incorporating this guidance into our planning efforts.

Personal Prevention Measures

While there is currently no vaccination for COVID-19, there are some steps you can take to protect yourself.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • If you are sick, avoid crowded spaces, including classes and public events. If you need to miss class, please contact the Assistant Dean’s Office and your tutors.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

College Announcements

Given that COVID-19 is impacting geographic regions of the country differently, the college is providing campus-specific guidance and updates while also working to ensure the policies on both campuses are as aligned as possible. When reviewing information in this section, please take care to make sure you are looking at the campus that applies to you.
