Student Life at Summer Academy

At our summer program, teens have the opportunity to explore many aspects of college life in a safe, supervised environment. Students enjoy an intellectual experience in the classroom and have time to exercise, go on interesting and relevant off-campus trips, and bond with new friends.

Students are housed on campus in our dormitories. When possible, males and females live in separate residence halls. Depending on the gender breakdown of the group, it may be necessary to have males and females occupy the same dorm building. If this occurs, genders are separated by floor.

At least one Resident Assistant lives on each floor and supervises a single-gender core group.

“The program as a whole was graceful and elegant. The meals were good, and the table conversations even better. Even after a few days, I felt right at home. It is rewarding to be in a room with fourteen other peers and talk and learn and live in a way that I have never done before. I can’t wait to get home because I can't wait to get back.”

Students are assigned a roommate unless they submit a request to room with a friend. A limited number of single rooms are available and may be assigned upon request.

Food services are provided by Bon Appétit Management Company in Annapolis and A’viands Food & Services Management in Santa Fe. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are provided daily. Both Bon Appétit and A’viands offer a variety of cuisines at each meal, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Students participate in engaging workshops, afternoon recreational activities, and have down time to relax and converse with their peers. Students in Annapolis enjoy games of croquet on the quad, swing dancing, and sailing on the Severn River. In Santa Fe, students learn archery basics, practice yoga, and study improv techniques.
