Counseling & Wellness Services

Welcome to the counseling and psychiatric services page. We’re happy you’re here!

During your time at St. John’s College, you may experience challenges as well as many opportunities for growth—academically and personally. Our job is to help you succeed in facing challenges and feel prepared to take on new opportunities.

Students seek counseling and psychiatry services for a variety of reasons, including—but not limited to—difficult life events, depression, anxiety, mood lability, sexual violence, or other forms of trauma, grief, stress management, interpersonal challenges, and questions about identity.

You may be referred by the assistant dean, a tutor, RA, or a friend. You may just be curious about mental health services or have questions about whether treatment is appropriate for you at this time. You don’t have to be in crisis or have a diagnosable mental health condition to make an appointment; students come in to discuss a range of concerns, large and small.

Please explore the information available on our website; you will find information about the counseling and psychiatry services we offer. We also have included several resources you may find helpful (e.g., community support, national hotlines, self-help materials, and online tools).

Our services are confidential and free for all students who meet the eligibility requirements. We schedule on a first-come, first-served basis. If we are ever full and running a waiting list for a particular service, we can work with you to get you connected to outside services. We want to make sure you have the support you need throughout your time here at St. John’s!
