Serenity Space

A Wellness Room Dedicated to Student Self-Care

Purpose

Located in the SHWC, the Serenity Space is a private, quiet room to develop and practice relaxation skills and to enhance overall well-being. This is one space on campus to simply rest, breathe, and relax with no agenda other than *self-care*. All current SJC students are welcome.

Appointments

Visits are limited to one student at a time, and appointments are required. Students should call the SHWC at 410-626-2553 to schedule.

Availability

Currently, the room can be reserved for 45-minute sessions Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m.–4 p.m. and on Friday between 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Same-day appointments may be available.

Use

A binder will be in the room to explain how to use the resources available in the Serenity Space. If you need additional assistance, please see an SHWC staff member or email counseling(at)sjc.edu.

  • Tablet w/relaxation apps (must be signed out/returned after each use)
  • HeartMath Biofeedback program (must be signed out/returned after each use)

Please note: No food or drink (other than water) may be brought into the Serenity Space, and students are expected to remove their shoes and/or use disposable shoe covers that are provided while in the Serenity Space.
