January Freshmen Ken Baumann (SF17) and Katherine Swift (SF22) talk about the joys and challenges of starting college with back-to-back, spring, summer, and fall semesters at St. John’s College. “You’re playing the game on hard mode,” says Baumann.
Neal Allen’s (SF78) (EC21) book Shapes of Truth: Discover God Inside You is rooted in Platonic philosophy and Sufi metaphysics, which are connected by “a deep-seated conviction that there is an eternal reality that sits underneath the manifest reality.”
Salomon Cordova (SF22), a native New Mexican, has always been interested in social and political issues native to his state—his St. John’s education has served as an extension of this concern and a force driving him to pursue a career in public policy.
Recent graduate, Aviral Chawla (SF22), has had part of his senior essay on Smith published by Liberty Fund’s Adam Smith Works. Chawla, who is currently a teaching assistant at the University of Vermont, says that he is “a huge admirer of the Liberty Fund” and is honored beyond words to have his work be represented in their repertoire.
After a pandemic-induced hiatus, Johnnies from different generations got a chance to meet and rekindle their Johnnie spirits at the seminar table and other activities during Reunion Weekend.
