This year marked the third year in a row of historic firsts for St. John’s College’s commencement festivities. In 2020, all graduates and their families attended commencement virtually due to the pandemic.
Kazakhstan is not only the world’s largest landlocked country, it’s also home to far-flung Johnnie Daniel Scarborough (SF01). Scarborough is an assistant professor of Russian history and religion at Nazarbayev University in the former Soviet state’s capital, Nur-Sultan (previously known as Astana), and he has just published a new book, Russia’s Social Gospel: The Orthodox Pastoral Movement in Famine, War, and Revolution.
With a gift from his estate, Kip Smith (SF73) is helping future students to ask the big questions.
For a small liberal arts institution, St. John’s College has a significant number of employees who are Fulbright scholars. Now St. John’s is working to help more of our undergraduate and graduate students enjoy a Fulbright experience abroad.
