Mitchell Gallery Teams with Newington-Cropsey Foundation to Bring Bronze Sculpture Fellowships to Johnnies

See what our summer fellows at the Academy of the Newington-Cropsey Foundation, Hastings-on-Hudson, have created. In two intensive weeks on a fully funded fellowship, Enkh-Od Batzorig (A22), Clare Collins (A22), and Monica Molina (A22) progressed through life drawings, sculpting terra cotta figures which will be cast into bronze, carving linoleum blocks for printmaking, and finishing with wood and marble carving.

Internships Connect the Lab to Life

When Susmi Sharma (SF21) was awarded an internship during her senior year, she sought to explore her growing interest in neuroscience and psychology. Piér Quintana, assistant director at OPPD, introduced Sharma to Dr. Taffeta Elliott (SF97), assistant professor of psychology and education at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, known locally as New Mexico Tech.

From German to Haitian Creole: How St. John’s Led to the World of Microfinance for Fulbright Fellow Steven Werlin (A85)

Fulbright Fellow Steven Werlin (A85) studied German and Heidegger, not Haitian Creole and microfinance. He credits St. John’s for honing his thinking and writing skills as well as connections leading to his life’s work—alleviating poverty through the nonprofit Fonkoze.
