McGrath’s post-baccalaureate work at Smith College is the latest stage in her long-term interest in math, which began during high school and deepened throughout her four years at St. John’s.

Aviral Chawla (SF22), who is a PhD student in complexity science at the University of Vermont’s Complex Systems Institute, credits his undergraduate education for not only preparing him for rigorous graduate work but for helping him thrive in an interdisciplinary field.
Now entering its third year of use, the DBA serves as an alternative to the traditional written college essay by providing prospective students with the opportunity to showcase their conversation skills.
